The pregnant woman hit the bottom of the staircase—and nobody called an ambulance.

Grace had been standing only a few steps up when Claudia approached her.
No screaming.

Grace turned it over and tapped a contact.
The call connected.
Suddenly, the helplessness vanished from her expression.

“Detective Reyes, it happened.”
She stared toward the staircase.
